On March 26, 2011, some of the best Ukrainian floorball teams gathered in Kiev at Vikings' home area for another Challenge Trophy. Last year Donetsk Sharks won the trophy, and this year they were facing a strong competition from the teams Wild West (Lugansk), Scala (Melitopol) and the host team Kiev Vikings.
Once again this turned out to be a tough competition with a lot of action and interesting games. This year an opening match between Scala and Wild West resulted in Scala's confident victory. The second match between Donetsk Sharks and Kiev Vikings drew a lot of attention as none of these strong teams was about to give in to the opponent. The Vikings were ahead scoring 6 against the Sharks' 4, but in the last five minutes of the match the Donetsk team was able to first reduce the score to 5 - 6 and at the last minute to even it at 6 - 6.
In the following game Scala won 5 - 4 against Vikings thus entering the final to play against Donetsk Sharks. We were amazed to watch Scala's players with their superb skills and truly remarkable aspiration to win, the team's goalie was the best one in this tournament and they managed to show astonishing results until the final game in which they eventually lost to Donetsk Sharks.
The Sharks once again won the Kiev Vikings' Challenge Trophy. We congratulate the Donetsk team and would like to thank all the teams, coaches, and players from around Ukraine for making this event a success once again.
